The City of Ryde opened its first 24/7 library in February this year and it is still only one of a handful in Sydney.
There’s been a popular uptake for the service since it began with about 600 sign-ups. About half of the users are students, and 88% say they are using the 24/7 library for study spaces and seating. With a hot summer ahead, it’s expected many will also use the space as refuge from the heat.
There has been a 97% satisfaction rate so far from users, with the busiest times being weekday evenings with students and workers, and weekend day times with families.
To start using the service, users must first complete an induction process. Check the City of Ryde website for more details on upcoming induction sessions.
